As the 2025–2026 legislative session continues, California lawmakers have predictably introduced new anti-gun legislation in an effort to continue and erode Second Amendment rights in the Golden State. The bill filing deadline is still more than a week away and additional legislation is expected to be filed in the coming days. Recently, two additional bills were filed, most notably Senate Bill 948 placing onerous training standards as a requirement to obtain a firearm safety certificate.         

Republicans are investigating reports that Michigan could have noncitizens on its voter rolls and in jury pools, the news coming amid efforts to safeguard citizens' right to vote.
