As the 2026 General Assembly enters the final week of the 2026 legislative session, anti-gun lawmakers continue their push to radically change your Second Amendment rights in the Commonwealth. This week four anti-gun bills, SB 727, SB 27, HB 21 and HB 40, received final passage and are headed to Governor Spanberger’s desk for consideration.  

This week, the Senate passed HB 39, HB 96, and HB 98. All three bills now advance to Governor Mark Gordon for his consideration. 

Yesterday, the Senate passed an amended House Bill 4145, now engrossed as HB 4145 B. It will now return to the House for concurrence as amended.

Earlier this week, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced S. 4013, the National Constitutional Carry Act. This legislation would prohibit states from imposing any criminal or civil penalty on U.S. citizens for carrying a firearm in public.  

Recently, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) and Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ-09) reintroduced the Gun Owner Registration Information Protection Act. This important legislation would prevent the federal government from funding or otherwise supporting the creation or maintenance of a state sponsored gun registry.  

Today, the Florida House passed House Bill 1551, important pro-industry legislation that strengthens legal protections for firearm manufacturers. On March 4th, West Milford, in Passaic County, became the 18th municipality in New Jersey to refund all or substantially all the fees required to obtain a permit to carry.

Legislation threatening the privacy of California firearm owners will be heard next week. Assembly Bill 1743 is scheduled for a hearing before the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, March 10, at 9:00 AM.    

Yesterday, the Oklahoma House passed two pro-Second Amendment bills, HB 2960 providing liability protections to firearm industry members for third party misuse of their products, and HB 2937 expanding carry protections to include watercraft. Both bills will now move to the Senate for further consideration.     

A package of pro-Second Amendment legislation has been introduced in the Michigan House. House Bills 5653–5657 would make Michigan the 30th state in the nation to recognize Constitutional Carry, allowing individuals who are legally permitted to possess a firearm to carry a concealed pistol without first obtaining a government-issued permit. The legislation has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee and is currently awaiting a hearing date. On March 10th, the New Hampshire Senate Judiciary Committee will be holding a hearing on HB 609, enhancing firearm preemption and HB 1365, increasing privacy protections for concealed carry permits. 

On Friday, March 6th, the Senate will hear House Bill 4145 on the floor. Anti-gun legislators have been pushing this bill through with no regard for the opposition and controversy the bill has faced.

Vermont’s massive “omnibus” gun control bill is now scheduled for a hearing before the Vermont House Judiciary Committee on March 11, 2026.

Tomorrow, March 5th, the New Hampshire House will vote on H.B. 1108 which would strengthen the Granite State’s self-defense laws.

On Thursday, March 5th, the House State Government Finance and Policy Committee will hold a hearing on HF 3357, effectively banning all firearms from the Capitol complex.

On Thursday, March 5th, the Senate State Affairs committee will hear Senate Bill 243, removing suppressors from the controlled weapons list and Senate Bill 203, regulating firearm accessories. 

Starting at 8am TODAY, the Senate Rules Committee will hold a work session on House Bill 4145, the Ballot Measure 114 override bill.

This Thursday, March 5th, the Florida House is expected to take floor action on HB 1551. Additionally, Senate Bill 1748 is awaiting a hearing in the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee. It's critical that this legislation receives a hearing to continue the legislative process with the March 13 end of session date rapidly approaching. 

On Wednesday, March 4th, the Senate Armed Services, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee will hold a vote on SB 214, legislation to remove firearm suppressors from the definition of “dangerous ordnance” in the Ohio Revised Code. Please use the take action to contact committee members and respectfully urge them to support this legislation.  

The FFL Killer bill is eligible for consideration on the floor despite receiving an "ought not pass" vote in committee on February 12. This legislation would gravely impact consumers and businesses alike.
